Making a Patchwork Witch Hat - Part 2 - Light - Halloween

It's that time again!

It's October!

When the sky starts to get a bit more rainy, the leaves begin to turn color, and the ghosties, ghouls, and goblins start coming out to play.

This month, we'll be doing a make-a-long in the form of a Witch Hat! You can sew this by machine, or by hand. By machine is ideal.

This video goes through the addendum to the materials list, and the "light" version of this hat.

(Also, don't at me cause in the video I spelled addendum wrong.  It was 4am when I finished editing this video.  I think we need to live with a few imperfections)

We have some cottagecore vibes and construction instructions for you, for those early fall and first half of October vibes.

So, grab your cozy drink of choice, grab your scraps, and let's get stitching!

See how to make this GIANT HAT! - Things I learned at college

Join me in seeing the process of how to make this GIANT HAT!

I need a broad brimmed hat to keep the sun off in the summer, and this dark brown felt hat certainly does the job!

You can style a broad hat like this many ways, adding flowers, greebles, and it certainly gives some Cad Bane vibes (Star wars for you cosplayers out there) I know this is a fast one, but it gives you a peek into the process.

Happy hat making!

Wheel of Time - Aes Sedai Shawl - free knitting pattern and construction

On this segment, of the Wheel of Time Craft-Along Challenge, we're going to take you through the basic pattern, and knitting details, for the final construction of the knitted version of my Aes Sedai shawl.

This includes fiber types, knitting techniques and design elements.

Remember, you can use whatever materials you have available to you, and you do not have to spin your own yarn for this project.

Based on the original book series by Robert Jordan, and hopefully the shawls will be seen in the TV series Wheel of Time in the second season.

To join in the challenge, and to be added to the playlist, please use #WoTcraftalong

Added acknowledgement: Thank you to Bernadette Banner for the inspiration, getting me to look into the show, find the books (again) and for the inspiration to wanting to do this project.

 ----------

The knitting pattern is as forward:

**knit 3, place stitch marker, yarn over increase, knit till you have 3 stitches left, yarn over, add stitch marker, knit to the end of row, turn

Wheel of Time - Books and TV show - Aes Sedai shawl construction basics

Hello Denizens...and Wheel of Time cosplayers!

I wanted to get you a better diagram of the elements of the Aes Sedai shawl, as described from the books, and I'm hoping they will be in the show at some point.

For those of you who are making one of your own, just remember there is no time limit to this craft along this time.

To showcase your work, please use the hashtag #wotcraftalong

For those of you in the Costube community who want to make one, if you are making one, through the usual channels on Discord, if you are interested, please @ me so I can set a realistic timeframe for reveals if you would like to add one to my reveal video.

If you are on Instagram, please use the hashtag #wotcraftalong so I can find your work.

If you are a Youtuber, and making one of these shawls for your own cosplay, please tag me on Youtube so I can also find your work.

Also keep in mind, you can use mixed methods of any material. You can weave, knit, crochet, or sew to make one.

You can use natural fiber, or acrylics. You could even make one out of scraps, using patchwork techniques for quilting to make your shawl.

If anyone has questions, or needs a bit of help, please comment below.

For reference I used a very, very barebones basic knitting pattern to make it.

Edit: I have since added several videos on YouTube, for the construction, spinning, knitting pattern, and information regarding the books and the premise of the TV show on Prime.

Come join me on the journey, by watching the videos below (in construction sequence order):
